About the Show

So You Think You Can Dance made its return to live television in June, 2015 to initiate season 12. With Jason Derulo, Paula Abdul and Nigel Lythgoe as the season's judges, the show brought forth a major format change, for the first time since it premiered in 2005. Instead of choosing ten male and ten female dancers for the top 20, contestants were chosen on the basis of whether they could be qualified as stage or street dancers. Towards the end of the auditions, eleven female and nine male dancers completed the top 20 lineup for the season.
