Almost every rock music fan would agree that some of the greatest rock bands in history originated around the 1980s. Rock of Ages Minneapolis tickets will take you to one show that acknowledges this fact and features some of the greatest glam metal hits from that decade.
 
It has been directed by Kristin Hanggi and features Chris D’Arienzo’s book. Choreography has been done by Kelly Devine and Ethan Popp is responsible for its arrangements, orchestrations and supervision. The interesting part about this musical is its comic nature. It is known to be a much more light and cheerful musical than most Broadways. The actors often break the imaginary boundary between the audience and themselves, reminding everyone how they’re just performers in a show.
 
The show is about Drew Boley, a budding rock star who falls in love with Sherrie Christian, a girl from Paola Kansas. Songs from some great bands like Europe, Bon Jovi, Poison, Styx, Pat Benatar, Journey, Steve Perry and Twisted Sister have been added and the actors maintain the ‘metalhead’ getup of the bands they are portraying. Another attention-grabbing part is how the drummer performs from inside a cage and the cage has a sign saying, ‘Please don’t feed the drummer’.
 
Originally the show opened Off-Broadway in 2008, ran through 2009 and featured Will Swenson, Constantine Maroulis and Paul Schoeffler. Around mid-2009, it officially opened on Broadway, gaining even more fame than before. Rock of Ages’ first US tour started in Chicago in 2010 and had its closing in Washington in 2011. The show also has Canadian, UK and Australian productions.
