Imagine Dragons is a Las Vegas-based alternative rock band that currently comprises of Dan Reynolds as drummer and vocalist; Ben McKee as backing vocalist and bassist; Wayne Sermon as backing vocalist and guitarist; and Dan Platzman as drummer, viola player and backing vocalist. To date, the group has released only one studio album titled Night Visions released in 2012, which took top places on US and Canadian charts; it peaked as a number one on US Alterative and US Rock charts while reached number twelve on Canadian charts.
The band has released several EPs their self-titled released of 2009 called Imagine Dragons, Hear Me, Hall and Silence, It's Time and Continued Silence, among which the latter most came out as the most successful. The EP charted on US charts taking the fortieth place; peaked at number eight on US Alternative charts and took the eleventh spot on US Rock charts. In 2012, they received a nomination for an MTV Video Music Award in the category of Best Rock Video for their song It's Time. Imagine Dragons are a four-piece band that was formed in 2008. The members have called their name an anagram though it is unknown what words it stands to represent. In 2012, the group released a couple of EPs Hell and Silence along with a self-titled one, both of which were recorded at the well-known Battle Born Studios. Within a year the group was back in the studio to record It's Time which was done before they signed a deal with a recording company. A few months later, they issued the single It's Time with which they were spotted among the top five acts on Billboard Rock and Billboard Alternative charts. The single made a record for being the longest run song on the Alternative Top Ten charts of 2012. It music video appeared in April 2012 on MTV affiliates, and the group was soon given the title of MTV's Push Artist of Week.
Imagine Dragons' most popular single was released in 2012 called It's Time from the album Night Visions, and was certified platinum. The song was a hit in many countries including the UK, New Zealand, Sweden, Canada and the US where it took high position on the alternative rock, pop and rock charts. They have released several promotional singles along with some other charted songs that include Radioactive, Amsterdam, Round and Round, Tiptoe, Bleeding Out, On Top of World, and Demons, all of which were hits. They have appeared as guest artist on the albums Answers to Nothing, Frankenweenie: Unleashed and Now That's What Call Musik! on the songs Hear Me, Lost Cause and It's Time, respectively.
Imagine Dragons has made several appearances on TV shows including a performance on late night talk shows with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon. Their songs have been featured on trailers for the films The Words, The Host and Perks of Being a Wallflower. The group took a tour across Canada, the US and several European countries to promote their album. Their entire tour recorded as a sell-out with the exception of two shows that were nearly sold out. Billboard Magazine listed them among Brightest New Stars of 2012 while Amazon.com gave them the title of Favorite Rock Artist of the Year. Their upcoming tour though North America and Europe has already marked several sold-outs.
