Early Years
Black Sabbath is a 60s heavy metal ensemble formed in Aston, Birmingham. Considered to be the pioneers of the genre, heavy metal, Black Sabbath was formed by lead vocalist OzzyOsbourne, songwriter Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward and lyricist Geezer Butler. Originally created as a blues rock group, the members called themselves 'The Polka Tulk Blues Band.' The band changed its music direction adopting horror-inspired music and lyrics and occult themes and with this became Black Sabbath.
